Golden Gate Edwardian

Adapting this outdated Edwardian home to the modern needs of a family of five, we brought a fresh, playful feel in keeping with their active, welcoming and down-to-earth lifestyle. With Moroso Construction taking the lead on remodeling and expanding the home to almost 4,000 square feet, we were given the liberty to design an extensive remodel of all four levels including a kitchen, three full baths and a powder room.

Taking a holistic approach from the start, there is a seamless tie between the interior architectural elements and furnishings. Mid-century accents, from teak casework and refurbished vintage furnishings, to grass cloth wall coverings and an orange and turquoise color palette on the main level, the house finally achieved its own character and distinctive style.

Vibrant and recurring colors in cabinetry finishes, tiles, textiles, upholstery, rugs, and wall coverings bring cohesiveness to the four levels: a home office and guest bedroom on the top level, four bedrooms and two bathrooms on the 3rd, a kitchen, family, dining and living room on the 2nd, and mudroom, playroom and full bath on the 1st .

The rounded corner details of both the wooden bathroom vanities and the stainless steel-topped orange lacquer island in the kitchen exemplified the unique accents that were central to our custom casework, as well as fixture, fitting, finish and furnishing designs and selections. Despite this consistent approach to detail, nothing is too precious, but instead refreshingly livable, practical and comfortable. A thoughtful consideration of functionality and the importance of organization make it possible for everything to find its place, be easy to maintain, and adjust to the growing needs of the family, especially after our contribution is finished.
